About Calcott Hall Farm
About Calcott Hall Farm

Calcott Hall is a family run business and our aim is to provide a pleasant and friendly shopping experience, very different from large supermarkets. We grow a wide range of vegetables and fruit and source locally whenever possible. We stock products from the Taste of Anglia food group and select for taste and quality.
The McTurks have been farming at Calcott Hall for over 35 years. Our farm is 140 acres (equivalent to about 70 football pitches) and was formerly a dairy farm. From humble beginnings selling potatoes and sweetcorn from crates in 1974 much has happened at Calcott Hall and we have grown a lot. We renovated an old Essex barn in 1983, and have gradually used more and more of it as our shop needs have grown.
On the farm, Dave (our farmer) uses traditional farming methods to grow our own produce, using the minimum amount of pesticides (you’ll often find our nibbled cabbages a testament to that!). He produces the best quality vegetables and often what you are buying was cut fresh that morning. It doesn’t get fresher than that!
Produce from the farm is almost exclusively sold through the shop, cutting out the middle man, reducing our carbon footprint and giving you, our loyal customer, the best possible quality, freshness and value. It's big headed but we’re proud of that fact!
Heres our growing calender
We grow when the conditions are right for our area but different areas of the country have different 'seasons' which is how sometimes we have British cauliflowers but we won't be growing them until September! This is the same for different growers around the world, which is how when we can't grow what you need we can get it from other regions of our country or others. Click here for a printable version so you can keep up with what's coming from the farm.
